What it is

SSP contains 16% phosphate (P₂O₅) along with sulphur (~11%) and calcium (~19%). It suits oilseeds, pulses and crops on sulphur-deficient soils, where the secondary nutrients add real value beyond phosphorus.

  • Lower cost per bag than DAP (more bulk needed)

Precautions

  • Bulky: ~2.9× the quantity of DAP is needed for the same phosphorus
  • Apply at sowing like other phosphorus sources

Application guidance

Broadcast and incorporate at sowing. To replace DAP's phosphorus, multiply the DAP quantity by 46/16 ≈ 2.875.
