MOP (Muriate of Potash) ایم او پی
The economical potassium source for most field crops.
N 0%P₂O₅ 0%K₂O 60%
What it is
MOP fertilizer (potassium chloride, also spelled mop fertiliser) supplies 60% potash (K₂O). Potassium regulates water use, strengthens stems, and improves grain filling and disease resistance. It is the cheapest potassium source per unit of K₂O for cereals, cotton and sugarcane.
Benefits
- Highest K₂O concentration among potash fertilizers
- Improves lodging resistance and grain quality
- Single basal application usually suffices
Precautions
- Contains chloride — avoid on chloride-sensitive crops such as tobacco and some fruits (use SOP instead)
- Apply basally; top-dressing potassium is less effective
Application guidance
Broadcast and incorporate at land preparation or sowing as the full potassium dose. For chloride-sensitive crops, substitute SOP (50% K₂O) at an adjusted rate.
Common questions about MOP (Muriate of Potash)
What is muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer?
Muriate of potash is the common name for potassium chloride fertilizer. It supplies 60% K₂O, making it the most economical potassium source for most field crops. You may also see it written as 'MOP fertilizer' or 'MOP fertiliser'.
When should MOP fertilizer be applied?
MOP is normally applied as part of the basal dose at sowing, together with your phosphorus fertilizer. Avoid placing it in direct contact with seed, especially in saline soils, because of its chloride content.
